A member of the Star Alliance group, Turkish Airlines is becoming a company to contend with. At the moment, they have 171 routes of which 130 are international destinations and 41 domestic. While their main base is at Ataturk International Airport, they operate flights all over the world, from North and South America, to Europe, Asia and Africa. They have experienced a significant increase in passengers using the airline as well as revenues and profits over the past four years. The company made 2.2 billion USD in 2006, flying about 17 million passengers. The company made approximately 4 billion USD in 2009, with more than 25 million passengers using the airline, making it a terrific year for them. There seems to be an increase in passenger flow especially among expatriates. Once they pick good professional moving services to relocate, then their next move is to estimate moving costs, and select Turkish Airlines as their carrier of choice.
Turkish Airlines was awarded the “Market Leadership Award” 2011 by ‘Air Transport World’, a leading magazine within the aviation industry. The internationally recognized award was presented to airline officials in a ceremony held in Washington D.C.
As we all know, the past number of years have been an exceedingly challenging environment for just about all businesses around the world. It’s a known fact that the airline industry generally follows the movements of the globally economy. However, the strong marketing efforts and innovative management of Turkish Airlines saw them ride through the worst of the global financial crisis and still turn a strong profit. In late 2010, Turkish Airlines inked a most interesting marketing deal with the world’s number one ranked women’s tennis player, Caroline Wozniacki.
This move is clearly a strong play in the effort of brand recognition on an international scale. Turkish Airlines now have Miss Wozniacki as their representative for the Business Class Service. The women’s number one ranked player will reach out to mainly European tennis lovers as the spokesperson for airlines. The player will star in commercials for the airline and appear at public relations events throughout the course of her three year contract.
Turkish Airlines has created a new style of travel called Comfort Class. This class of travel is available on the Boeing 777 planes the company owns. With seats that are just under 46 inches, this makes it a completely new approach to flying in style. So that is nearly four feet of seat available for yourself and anything else you care to have with you on your seat. Boeing 777s are pretty big airplanes, meant for long-haul flights, a fact that you should keep in mind. Current Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles card carriers may use their accrued miles to reserve seating with Comfort Class. Since the Turkish Airlines has experienced years of solid steady profits, they are in a great position to handle this they way most businesses would. The airlines have been proving how smart they are in marketing by globally branding their business in a smart manner. We have the opinion that this company moves fast and is ready to take over the very competitive market of aviation and flight travel globally. Not only has the company entered into plenty of sports celebrity contracts that will span over many years, but they have also been getting more planes and making more improvements.
